Connection Reset

If you have changed your network settings and cannot connect to SmartLinc or forgot your SmartLinc password, performing a Connection Reset will result in the following:

  • DHCP will be set to enabled
  • Port number will be reset to port 80
  • SmartLinc authentication will be disabled

This will allow you to easily connect to your SmartLinc, without resetting its entire memory (of INSTEON Links, scene / room labels, etc)

1. Press & hold SmartLinc's Set button for about 5 seconds, then release
Its Status LED will begin blinking

2. Tap SmartLinc's Set Button 5 times
Its Status LED will return to solid

Starting with a "Clean Slate"
Clearing Room / Scene Labels, Timers, Cameras and Check Boxes

Out of the box (or after a factory reset), SmartLinc contains pre-populated room names, scene names, and a timer. There are also examples of scenes where certain controls are disabled. These are all intended to demonstrate some examples for how to use SmartLinc. However, if you would like to start with a "clean slate," these can be cleared from SmartLinc:

1. From SmartLinc homepage, click Settings (wrench, bottom middle)

2. Scroll down to the bottom of the settings page and click Authentication

3. Click Clear All Labels to clear all room and scene labels

4. Click Clear All Timers to clear all every on and off time from every scene

5. Click Clear All URLs to clear all IP cameras (or other URLs) from every room

6. Click Reset All Check Boxes to hide all but one room and one scene, expose all controls for each scene (On/Off/Brt/Dim), and reset all timers to activate everyday

Factory Reset

Warning: The factory reset procedure will clear SmartLinc memory and restore its factory default settings. This procedure will result in the following:

  • All INSTEON Links will be reset
  • Timers, room labels and scene labels will be restored to factory default values
  • DHCP be will be set to enabled
  • Port number will be reset to port 80
  • SmartLinc authentication will be disabled
  • All IP camera URL's will be cleared
  • All Check Boxes will be reset (On/Off/Brt/Dim Controls, day of week selections, etc)
  1. Before resetting your SmartLinc (if it has been Linked to other INSTEON devices), be sure to Unlink those devices from SmartLinc first. See Unlinking a Controlled INSTEON Device from SmartLinc for instructions.

  2. Unplug SmartLinc from the AC Power

  3. Wait 10 seconds

  4. Press & hold the Set button for 5 seconds while plugging the unit back in, then release
The SmartLinc Status LED will turn off for a few seconds, then return to solid
